Hey all, Angela here! Tony and I have exciting news to share. Several months ago we made the decision to look for a new shop. The space that we have been in is a shared space that just doesn’t have the room for growth that we need. And honestly, it is just a little too dark and dingy. Watch this video here and you’ll see what I mean. For those of you who have already purchased any of our BX products, you guys can see that when Tony makes something… it is extremely high quality. We have comments all of the time about the craftsmanship, durability… and heck even the packaging when it’s sent. That is just who Tony is. He is a perfectionist when it comes to his work. It’s his way of signing his name to every piece that he builds. And because of that he also likes a clean, tidy, organized shop where his creative energy can flow!
So the search for our new AI2 home began! At first, our intention was actually to move EVERYTHING into South Dakota. We spent a couple days touring the state… but nothing felt right. We looked at a few other locations close to where we are now… but most were too big, too small… or WAY out of budget. Then low and behold a cool little place popped up in a beautiful little farm community just south of here. Gotta say… some may have seen this place and ran. The building had definitely seen better days. But we are not afraid of a good “fixer upper”. The potential was there.
So the decision was made. This was the perfect new home for Ashwill Industries/Ai2 Products. You’ll see in the pictures what we started with.
The building was dirty, dark, dingy, there were tons of cracks and oil stains in the floor and quite a bit of junk left behind….BUT we saw a really cool old building.
It has a really great office space and a decent amount of shop space that we can tweak to really be able to get the most out of it. You’ll notice there are currently 4 overhead doors. We plan to wall 2 of those off. The far left door will be left as is… and the second door from the left will ultimately be dug out and turned into a loading dock.
Over the last several weeks we have had to but a LOT of time and effort into getting this building move in ready. Unfortunately, that has also resulted in a bit of a slow down in part production… but that will be resolved within the next month or two after the move is complete. To those of you who have recently ordered attachments, we sincerely appreciate your patience and will be getting pieces out just as quickly as we can.
This week, 2 of the biggest improvement projects are underway. As soon as they are done, I will put together another post so all of you can see the progress. This is so exciting for us! Check back soon everyone! I think you’ll be amazed to see the results.
